These are threads in the Great Binding Law, the sacred web uniting all creation.

Within this law live the seven sacred teachings, gifts of Spirit meant to guide humankind in balance, love, and truth.

🌿 1. Wisdom — Nibwaakaawin

Symbol: Beaver

Wisdom is seeing beyond the self and rightly applying knowledge for the good of all. It recognizes the ripple your choices create and chooses to build, not destroy.

Practice:

• Pause before you act.

• Listen before you speak.

• Let your heart guide your intellect.

🕊️ 2. Love — Zaagi’idiwin

Symbol: Eagle

Love is the sacred current binding the universe. To love purely is to see the divine in every being and act from that vision.

Practice:

• Love yourself as you love the Earth.

• Love without possession or fear.

• Let every act become an offering of love.

🦬 3. Respect — Manaadenindiwin

Symbol: Buffalo

Respect honors the sacred in all life. It is not submission, but reverence for the dignity of every being.

Practice:

• Walk gently.

• Speak with care.

• Offer gratitude before you take.

🐻 4. Bravery — Zoongide’ewin

Symbol: Bear

Courage is acting with heart even when the path is uncertain. It empowers you to stand for justice and protect the vulnerable.

Practice:

• Face your shadows.

• Speak truth even when it trembles.

• Move through fear, not around it.

🌲 5. Honesty — Gwayakwaadiziwin

Symbol: Sabe

Honesty aligns your words, actions, and spirit. It strengthens trust and restores integrity.

Practice:

• Be truthful with yourself first.

• Let your yes mean yes, your no mean no.

• Speak from the heart.

🐺 6. Humility — Dabaadendiziwin

Symbol: Wolf

Humility recognizes your place in the circle of life. It fosters listening, service, and gratitude.

Practice:

• Listen more than you speak.

• Serve without recognition.

• Give thanks often.

Symbol: Turtle

Truth is the foundation for all other teachings. To live in truth is to embody them moment by moment.

These teachings are interdependent. Wisdom without humility becomes arrogance; love without courage becomes attachment; truth without respect becomes rigidity.

Living by the Great Binding Law is walking with responsibility to all relations — ancestors, future generations, animals, plants, Earth, sky, and waters.
